MIGAL - Galilee Technology Centre (www.migal.org.il) is a life sciences applied research institute specializing in the fields of environmental studies, agriculture, and biotechnology. MIGAL was established in 1979, and since than has carried out a wide variety of successful joint ventures with universities and SMEs in Israel and in many countries. MIGAL had very sophisticated equipment for laboratory work and research, and in the water sector is involved in many kinds of examination, from water quality to microbiology The centre’s interdisciplinary team includes 57 scientists of Ph.D. level, backed by a staff of additional 100 engineers, graduate students and technicians.
MIGAL is very much experienced in EU projects as well as in Bi-national projects with the USA (BIRD, BARD, MERK) and received grants from various sources (NIH, WHO, UNDP, USAID etc) of the highest compatible funds. MIGAL's researchers were coordinators of projects in the FP5 and FP6 programmes and participated in around 10 projects. It was involved in scientific projects as well as in CSA projects for innovation and regional development. As the MEGA R&D institute of regional development is involved each year in many agricultural projects as well as in water-saving project, and in monitoring the situation at the Galilee Water Basin.
